PATTERNED ADHESIVE VINYL is a popular material used for a variety of applications, including crafting, sign making, and more. There are two main types of vinyl - Indoor Removable and Outdoor Permanent adhesive vinyl. The main difference between these two types is the strength and durability of their adhesives.
INDOOR REMOVEABLE VINYL is designed to be temporary, and it has a low-tack adhesive that makes it easy to remove from a surface without leaving any residue. This type of vinyl is ideal for short-term applications, such as seasonal decorations, promotional graphics, and other temporary signage. The low-tack adhesive means that the vinyl can be repositioned and moved around until it is placed in the desired location. It is not recommended for use on surfaces that are exposed to harsh weather conditions or direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Removable vinyl may also not be as durable as permanent adhesive vinyl, and it can lose its adhesive strength over time.
OUTDOOR PERMANENT ADHESIVE VINYL is designed to be long-lasting and has a high-tack adhesive that creates a strong and long-lasting bond with a surface. It is ideal for more permanent applications, such as outdoor signs, vehicle graphics, and window decals. The high-tack adhesive means that once the vinyl is applied, it is difficult to remove without damaging the surface underneath. It is also more durable than removable vinyl and can withstand exposure to harsh weather and UV rays without fading, peeling or cracking.
Use a design software to create your design or download a pre-made design.
Use a cutting machine to cut the design out of the patterned adhesive vinyl. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for setting up and using the cutting machine.
Remove the excess vinyl from the design using a weeding tool.
Cut a piece of mask film to size, slightly larger than the design. Peel the backing off the mask film and apply it to the front of the design, making sure to smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles.
Peel the backing off the vinyl, starting from one corner.
Carefully position the vinyl on the surface, using a ruler or level to ensure it's straight and even.
Use a squeegee or credit card to smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles in the vinyl, starting from the center and working your way outward. Then, carefully remove the mask film, starting from one corner.
Allow the vinyl to set for 24-48 hours before exposing it to water or other elements.
That's it! Following these steps should help you apply ADHESIVE VINYL to your desired surface with ease.
